The Long Run 2026: Join ‘Dean’s Team’ and Crusade On in his memory

The Long Run has always been about more than just kilometres. It’s about community, connection, and doing something meaningful together. This year, we’re inviting our Crusaders Members and wider community to take part in something truly special: Dean’s Team.
Dean Tuhaka was one of us. A proud Crusaders Member from Queenstown who never missed a game. He travelled up every time to cheer the boys on, often sitting in our accessible seating, chatting with members and fans, and making connections wherever he went. Dean was a fierce supporter of the Long Run, and his passion for our club and our cause was unmatched.
On 3 August 2025, Dean passed away unexpectedly at home, aged 58. He was a loved partner, brother, and friend. His obituary finished with two words that say it all: Crusade On. That’s exactly what we’ll do.
By joining Dean’s Team, you’ll be running in his honour and helping us continue the legacy he cared so deeply about.
Our goal is to raise $552 among our members and wider community – a meaningful number that reflects Dean’s 2026 member number, held in his memory.
At 5.52pm, we will come together and run a lap for Dean, to pay our respects to a man who gave so much to our club.
This is your chance to make a difference, to run for something bigger than yourself, and to show what it means to be part of this incredible community. Let’s make Dean proud.
