About
Kyle Preston, a born and bred Wellingtonian, played first XV at Tawa College for three years, and was selected for the U18 Hurricanes training camp in 2017.
After high school, Kyle stayed in the capital city and played for Old Boys University where he scored 21 tries in 20 games. In 2023, he debuted for the Wellington provincial team, proving himself to be a pivotal member of the squad and played every game in the 2024 season, including winning the NPC final against Bay of Plenty. By the end of the season, Kyle was Wellington’s top try scorer.
Kyle's 2025 debut for the Crusaders came earlier than he may have expected, when he took the field as injury replacement in the eighth minute of round one. Ten minutes later, Kyle scored his first Super Rugby try and by the final whistle he had a hat-trick.
During preseason training in Christchurch, Kyle impressed with his 4:16 bronco time, only to shed three seconds off after the Christmas break, to set a Crusaders bronco record of 4 minutes 13 seconds.
