It wasn’t to be at Melbourne’s Super Round 2024 for the Crusaders, beaten by the Waratahs 37-24. The boys travelled across the ditch for this one and returned home Sunday for a chance to reset and learn before taking on the Drua in a week.

It’s never easy watching those final whistle moments when it’s not your team celebrating, but epic stories have their foundations in moments like those. The ones that make us stronger, make us adapt, make us rally. Onto the next.

Some key moments we are celebrating:

  • Within the first two minutes Macca was on the money on the left wing, the beneficiary of quality work from David Havili and Tom Christie. How about that winger’s canter down the sideline.

  • Sevu properly back in action on the right, diving for the line in the 18th minute to retake the lead, capitalising off the lightning quick hands of Chay Fihaki.

  • Levi Aumua absolutely charging through blue shirts up the midfield early in the second, before a charged-up Sevu darted his way to 5.

  • That Christian Lio-Willie reach in the 72nd. Power and persistence.

You learn from your wins and your losses. It’s still early days for the boys in the 2024 season with plenty of minutes to be played. Bring on Round 3 in Lautoka.
