Vilimoni Delasau
« Back

Prior to joining the Crusaders, Vilimoni Delasau was largely recalled in the Southern Hemisphere at least for his exploits on the IRB’s world Sevens circuit, where he scored an astonishing 82 tries for Fiji during the inaugural series in 1999 and 2000. Such feats saw him named as the IRB Sevens Player of the Year. The exposure also saw the flying winger called up for Fiji’s 15-aside Test team, with Delasau making his debut against Canada in 2000. As well as playing 21 Tests, Delasau also secured a contract with French club Stade Montois, before opting to try his hand in the Southern Hemisphere when he signed for Canterbury and the Crusaders in 2005. Unfortunately Delasau was unable to make the impact that was anticipated, with his performance largely being overshadowed by the try scoring feast enjoyed that season by Rico Gear.
