Tabai Matson

« Back
A non-Test All Black in 1995 and 1996, Tabai Matson finished his distinguished career as a duel international after he played two Tests for Fiji at the 1999 Rugby World Cup. Prior to aligning himself with Fiji, which came after his New Zealand career had ended when he joined the Brive club in France, Matson had proved himself a valued contributor to the Canterbury and Crusaders cause. Although injury restricted the strapping centre to just three appearances in the Crusaders’ debut season, he was a constant presence in the side during the following two campaigns, ending his Crusaders career in style in 1998 when he enjoyed his first ever representative win on Eden Park.
