Scott Robertson
« Back

A draft player in his first season, Robertson wielded a huge influence in the title winning run of 1998, which led to an All Black debut later that year. He again starred in 1999 and 2000, with the level of his performance being such that he briefly usurped Josh Kronfeld as the All Black openside, before he made a successful move to No 8 during the 2001 NPC to accommodate the emerging Richard McCaw. That switch both allowed McCaw to prosper, while also extending Robertson’s New Zealand career, as he excelled during Canterbury’s romp to the 2001 NPC, and again during the unbeaten Crusade of 2002, to return to the All Black fold for New Zealand’s win in the 2002 Tri-Nations.
