Nathan Mauger
« Back

The elder brother of current All Black second-five-eighths Aaron Mauger, Nathan Mauger made it into the Crusaders a year after taking his first bow for Canterbury in 1998. Raised in Lyttleton, and a nephew of former Canterbury All Blacks Stephen and Graeme Bachop, the elder of the two Mauger boys overcame the shock of sustaining a broken leg while playing for the New Zealand Colts in Argentina in 1999, to go on and make the All Blacks two years later. Significantly, his call up to the senior national side came on the same tour as his younger brother Aaron also made his international debut, although the pair never featured in the same All Black playing XV.
