Matt Sexton

« Back
A member of the Crusaders squad in five of the team’s first six seasons, missing the 2000 campaign due to injury, Matt Sexton subsequently went on to play successfully in Europe with leading Irish province Ulster. Sexton debuted for Canterbury in 1991 and had run up 128 appearances by the time he headed offshore 10 years later. His career included leading Canterbury on the 1994 tour of the United Kingdom. He also was the first Crusaders forward to be credited with a try in Super 12, crossing the line against the Blues at Lancaster Park in 1996. Prior to his departure, the under-rated hooker regularly shared the front row duties with All Black Mark Hammett.
