Kevin O'Neill
« Back

Even though he was already known to his team-mates as ‘Giant’, Kevin O’Neill grew in stature during Canterbury’s inaugural Air New Zealand Cup campaign where he was the only player to start in all 12 matches. A product of the same Thames Valley township, Te Aroha, that provided the Waikato, Chiefs and All Black lock Keith Robinson; O’Neill made his Canterbury debut against Fiji in 2003 and graduated to the Crusaders two seasons later. He featured in eight matches during his freshman season but was restricted to just two appearances - against the Cats and the Western Force – in his second season.
