Israel joined the Crusaders in 2011 following a move from the Highlanders Franchise. He is a dynamic fullback, who made a real impact in his debut season with the All Blacks in 2010, scoring two match winning tries against the Springboks in Wellington and Soweto.
His form continued in the 2011 Investec Super Rugby season, where he scored seven tries before suffering a competition ending injury to his quadricep against the Stormers in Capetown.
Israel boasts a considerable national representative rugby career, representing New Zealand in Sevens in 2007 and 2008, New Zealand Under 19 in 2007 and New Zealand Schools in 2006.
