« Back

One of three sons of the former Mid-Canterbury All Black Jock Ross to have made their mark on the representative scene, Isaac Ross followed up his debut Rebel Sport Super 14 season in 2007 by making that year’s New Zealand Maori squad for the Churchill Cup in England. An old boy of Timaru Boys’ High School, Ross played for the national Under-19 and Under-21 teams after finishing school. He also featured in 10 of Canterbury’s 12 matches in 2006, prior to winning a Crusaders’ call-up the following year. Ross has an illustrious pedigree to live up to. Not only did his father play five matches for the All Blacks in 1981, mother Christine is also a former New Zealand rugby representative. Christine Ross was capped five times by the national women’s team between 1989 and 1996, scoring 52 points in those matches. Isaac Ross played for the Highlanders in 2008. He was one of the most improved Crusaders in 2009 which led to his selection for the All Blacks for the first time. He played eight Tests last year.
