Hayden Pedersen only played one match for the Crusaders, but it is an occasion of which the diminutive Marlborough speedster is sure to have fond memories after he was called off the bench during the team’s 51-13 annihilation of the Stormers at Cape Town in 2003. The Harlequins (Blenheim) winger scored 23 tries in 26 matches for Marlborough between 2001 and 2003 before heading south to contracts with Otago and the Highlanders for 2004 and 2005. Pedersen played 13 matches for the Highlanders during his two seasons, as well as five games for Otago. He also featured in the New Zealand Maori team’s 29-27 win over Fiji at Suva in 2005 before linking up with former Marlborough and New Zealand Maori assistant coach Jim Love at Italian club Viadana in 2006.
