Daryl Gibson

« Back
One of the few members of the foundation Crusaders side to still be competing at a high level 11 years on, Daryl Gibson was the rock on which much of the success enjoyed by Canterbury, the Crusaders, and more recently the English Super club Leicester Tigers, has been built on. It shows just how much Gibson has developed in every way in that time, because his playing weight was listed at 85 kilograms when professional rugby first started in 1996. By the time he quit New Zealand, six years later, the muscular midfield back was tipping the scales at 98 kilograms! The versatile Christchurch Boys’ High School old boy was one of just two players to start every match of the inaugural Crusade and he continued to offer dependable service up until his departure from New Zealand at the end of 2002.
