Clark McLeod

A product of Mid Canterbury, for whom he later made 12 appearances in 2004 and 2005, Clark McLeod was relatively unknown outside of Christchurch prior to his Crusaders debut, but quickly made a big impression. An uncompromising loose forward in the mould of former Springbok hardman Ruben Kruger, McLeod proved himself an ideal fix it man, slotting in at either No 8 or on the blindside flank depending on what the circumstances required. As well as his 21 Crusaders appearances, McLeod also accumulated 22 matches for Canterbury between 1997 and 2000, later playing four matches for Waikato on loan towards the end of the 2000 season. He then went on to a career in Japan until 2004.
