Captain of Canterbury in the 2006 Ranfurly Shield defence against Counties Manukau, Cameron McIntyre achieved much in three years of Super rugby, two of which were spent at the Crusaders. The Marist Albion clubman was a national age group representative prior to making his Canterbury debut in 2001. His first taste of life on the Crusaders playing staff came three years later, although his two seasons in the side were split by a year in Dunedin in 2005 where he featured in nine matches for the Highlanders. McIntyre appeared for the Junior All Blacks in the inaugural Pacific Five Nations in 2006 prior to taking up an opportunity to join his former Highlanders team-mate Carl Hoeft at French club Castres Olympique at the end of the first Air New Zealand Cup.
