Andy Miller
« Back

The highest point-scorer in the inaugural Crusade, Andrew Miller went on to score 24 points against Auckland in a Ranfurly Shield challenge later in 1996, only to see his Bay of Plenty side shot down by an injury time try in a dramatic 29-30 loss. Although he only spent one season in Super rugby, the Te Puke Sports first-five-eighths accumulated over 700 points for Bay of Plenty in his representative career before embarking on a successful playing stint with Kobe Steel in Japan, which saw him represent his adopted nation at the 2003 Rugby World Cup after qualifying on residential grounds. Miller played 10 Tests for Japan in 2002 and 2003, contributing 68 points from those matches, many of which were played against relatively exotic opponents (in a rugby sense) like Russia, South Korea and Chinese Taipei.
