Aaron Mauger
« Back

The younger of two brothers to represent Canterbury, the Crusaders and New Zealand, Aaron Mauger was a key member of the Super rugby set up almost instantly from his debut in 2000. Initially a first-five-eighths, Mauger ultimately settled one place further out in the backline where his all-round skill set, tactical nous and unflustered nature made him an invaluable foil to, firstly Andrew Mehrtens, and then Daniel Carter. A Linwood club junior, Mauger made his All Black Test debut in the same match as Richard McCaw at the end of 2001, with his career having been heavily intertwined with that of the current All Black captain since their days in the world champion New Zealand Under-19 side of 1999.
